What drives you to work on Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae elimination?
I can summarize my motivations to eliminate Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae into two areas: 1) It is exciting and quite satisfying to eliminate a major pathogen from a client’s production flow because it illustrates the art of practice in understanding transmission, internal biosecurity practices and training/education of the farm’s staff; plus, 2) it positions the client with an improved chance to be profitable.

What drives you to work on Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae elimination?
The most poorly understood area of pig and pork production (including disease elimination) is realistically determining the short-term and long-term value of what producers do and use – management practices, equipment, nutrition and feed, health management, capital investment – as well as appreciating the cost of all forms of risk exposure and the value of risk management for their businesses…I find working in the areas of risk, cost and value feeds my ongoing curiosity and provides a lot of intellectual satisfaction.
